Dually Tire Pressure Monitoring System — inner duals included.
The inside rear tires on a dually are the hardest to check and the easiest to forget. A dually tire pressure monitoring system reads all six truck tires — and your trailer's — from the cab, so a soft inner dual never quietly overloads its partner.

- IP67waterproof sensors
Pick a kit for your dually and what it tows
Six sensors cover the truck. Add your trailer's tires to size the kit.

Why duallies need tire monitoring more than most trucks
Dual rear wheels share the load. When one tire gets soft, the other one quietly picks up the slack — until it can't.
The inner duals you never check
The inside rear tires sit behind the outer wheels. Few owners gauge them at every fuel stop, so slow leaks there run longest.
One soft tire overloads its partner
A dual running low hands its share of the load to the tire beside it. Both tires overheat, and the healthy one can fail first.
Towing multiplies the heat
A heavy fifth wheel or gooseneck adds pin weight right over the rear axle. A temperature reading on each dual shows trouble before it shows up in the mirror.
Look for mismatched pairs: two duals on the same side should read within a few PSI and a few degrees of each other. A gap that keeps growing usually means a leak, a valve problem or a dragging brake on that wheel.
How many TPMS sensors does a dually setup need?
One sensor per tire. Count the truck's six, then add your trailer.
| Setup | Tires to monitor | Recommended kit |
|---|---|---|
| Dually truck only | 6 | Solar Powered TPMS or GRUNDIG RV TPMS (6-wheel) |
| Dually + single-axle trailer | 8 | GRUNDIG RV TPMS (8-wheel) |
| Dually + tandem 5th wheel or gooseneck | 10 | Grundig S08 (10-wheel) |
| Dually + triple-axle 5th wheel or toy hauler | 12 | Grundig S08 (12-wheel) |
| Dually + tandem dually trailer | 14 | GRUNDIG 550S 14-sensor kit |
| Several trailers in rotation | 6 + each trailer | GRUNDIG 860 with saved trailer profiles |

Fits popular one-ton duallies
Grundig sensors screw onto the valve stems and talk only to their own monitor, so they work alongside — not through — your truck's electronics.
Ford F-350 / F-450 Super Duty
Covers all six truck tires; ideal paired with a fifth wheel or gooseneck in 10- or 12-wheel mode.
RAM 3500 Dually
Adds tire temperature at every position, plus the trailer tires a factory system doesn't show.
Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD
Monitors the inner duals and whatever you hitch up on one dash screen.
GMC Sierra 3500HD
Same fitment as the Silverado 3500HD — six truck sensors plus your trailer kit.
Getting a clean reading from the inner duals
Use solid valve extensions
If your inner valve sits behind the outer wheel, fit rigid or braided steel extensions rated for your tire pressure before mounting the sensor.
Prefer metal valve stems
A sensor adds a little weight to the valve tip. Metal stems don't flex at highway speed the way rubber stems can.
Check clearance
Make sure each sensor clears the wheel, hubcap and simulator so nothing rubs as the wheel turns.
Installing a dually TPMS
Plan on about 15 minutes for the truck and a few more for the trailer:
- Power on the monitor first and choose the wheel layout for truck plus trailer.
- Set limits per axle. Front, rear duals and trailer tires usually run different pressures.
- Fit sensors in the on-screen order, starting with the outer and inner duals, and lock each with its anti-theft nut.
- Leak-check every valve with soapy water — especially extended inner valves.
- Drive a few minutes to confirm all positions report, then compare each dual pair.

Dually TPMS FAQ
Does my dually's factory TPMS cover my trailer?
Usually not. Factory systems on one-ton duallies are built around the truck's own tires, and most can't display the trailer you tow. A dedicated dually tire pressure monitoring system shows the truck's six tires and the trailer's tires on one screen.
Can external sensors fit the inner dual valve stems?
Yes, as long as you can reach the inner valve. Many duallies route the inner valve through the outer wheel or use a valve extension. Use metal valve stems or rigid, pressure-rated extensions, and check the sensor clears the wheel and hubcap.
How many sensors do I need for a dually towing a fifth wheel?
Six for the truck plus four for a tandem-axle fifth wheel, so 10 in total. A triple-axle fifth wheel brings it to 12 — the Grundig S08 covers both in its 10- and 12-wheel modes.
What pressure do dually rear tires run?
Many one-ton duallies run Load Range E light-truck tires at around 65–80 PSI on the rear, but it varies by truck and load. Use the placard on the driver's door jamb, then set your TPMS limits around that number.
What is a tandem dually trailer?
It is a trailer with two axles and dual wheels on each side of each axle — eight trailer tires in total. Behind a dually truck that makes 14 tires, which the GRUNDIG 550S or 860 can cover on one monitor.
Will a sensor on every dual affect wheel balance?
External sensors are light (the 550S sensor weighs about 18 g), so they are generally not noticeable on a heavy dually wheel. If you are sensitive to balance, fit a sensor to every wheel so each one carries the same weight.
