Phase 1: Hardware Installation
The goal is to physically prevent exhaust gas from entering the intake system.

Preparation & Safety:
Allow the engine to cool completely.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Locate & Remove Components:
Find the EGR valve and/or EGR cooler assembly, which connects the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold.
Carefully unbolt and remove these components.

Block Off Openings:
Install the kit's block-off plates or plugs onto the exhaust and intake manifold ports where the EGR system was connected.
Reinstall bolts and tighten to the specified torque.

Manage Vacuum/Electrical Lines:
Securely cap or reroute any vacuum lines. Do not cut wires; simply secure the electrical connector safely away.

Phase 2: Software Tuning
Hardware removal alone will trigger fault codes. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) must be reprogrammed.

Reprogram the ECU: Use a professional tuning tool to upload a custom "tune" or "map" that permanently disables the EGR function and suppresses all related error codes.

Physically installing the kit will remove the EGR system. However, to avoid check engine lights and ensure the vehicle runs optimally, it must be used in conjunction with a compatible tuner or ECM reflash.
