CarPlay on a Tesla Model Y: FAQ
Does the Tesla Model Y support Apple CarPlay?
Not natively. As of late 2026, Tesla still doesn't offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in its software, so getting CarPlay in a Model Y takes an adapter or an aftermarket display.
Which phones work with the CarPlay adapter?
iPhones on iOS 10 or later for CarPlay, and Android phones on Android 11 or later for Android Auto.
How does the adapter connect?
It plugs into the car's USB port and connects to your phone over 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band Wi-Fi. After the first pairing, later connections happen automatically.
Does the adapter work in every country?
No. The adapter is not compatible with Australian Tesla models. Contact service@grundig-auto.com if you're unsure about your region.
Adapter or dashboard screen — which is better?
The adapter is the low-cost route at $95 and runs on the car's own screen. A dashboard display costs more but adds a driver screen with speed, gear and turn signals, with CarPlay built in.
