GRUNDIG AUTO · CLASS A MOTORHOMES

TPMS for Class A Motorhomes — coach, tag axle and toad.

A Class A coach rides on high-pressure tires carrying tens of thousands of pounds, and a steer tire failure at highway speed is the one nobody wants. A Class A TPMS shows every tire — steer, drive, tag and toad — on one screen in the cockpit.

WHY CLASS A COACHES NEED IT

Where Class A tire problems hide

Steer axle

The tire you can least afford to lose

Front tire failures affect steering directly. Catching a slow leak or a hot steer tire early keeps you in control of a 30,000-lb coach.

Tag axle

The axle everyone forgets

Tag axle tires sit behind the drive duals and are rarely checked at fuel stops. They still carry real load and still fail.

Storage

Coaches sit, tires leak

Between trips, tires lose pressure and develop flat spots. A TPMS gives you a full cold reading before you pull out of the storage lot.

Inflate by weight, not by guesswork: the right pressure for a Class A tire depends on the actual axle weight. Weigh your coach loaded, use your tire maker's load-inflation table, then set your TPMS alarm limits around those numbers.

MATCH YOUR COACH

Which TPMS fits your Class A motorhome?

Steer + drive tires first, then add a tag axle and toad if you have them.

POPULAR CLASS A BRANDS

TPMS for Newmar, Tiffin and other diesel pushers

Grundig sensors mount on the valve stems and run on their own monitor, so they fit any coach regardless of chassis.

Newmar TPMS

Dutch Star, Ventana, New Aire and King Aire coaches often run tag axles — plan on 8 sensors for the coach, 12 with a toad.

Tiffin motorhome TPMS

Allegro, Allegro Red, Phaeton and Allegro Bus coaches: choose 217 PSI sensors for diesel models on 22.5-inch tires.

Freightliner & Spartan chassis

Most diesel pushers ride on these chassis; tire count, not chassis, decides the kit size.

Other brands

Winnebago, Thor, Entegra and more — see our RV TPMS by brand guide.

INSTALLATION

Installing a TPMS on a Class A coach

No tire removal, no dealer visit:

  1. Power on the monitor and mount it in the cockpit where you can see it without looking away from the road for long.
  2. Set limits per axle from your weight-based inflation table — steer, drive, tag and toad usually differ.
  3. Fit sensors in the on-screen order with metal valve stems or rigid extensions on the inner duals.
  4. Install the signal booster near the rear of the coach if you monitor a tag axle or toad.
  5. Leak-check and test drive to confirm every position reports.
CLASS A TPMS QUESTIONS

TPMS for Class A Motorhome FAQ

Do I need to monitor the tag axle on my diesel pusher?

Yes. Tag axle tires carry part of the rear load and are easy to overlook because they sit behind the drive duals. A diesel pusher with a tag axle has 8 tires — the Grundig S08's 8-wheel mode covers all of them.

Can I monitor my toad (towed car) too?

Yes. Add four sensors for the toad: a 6-tire coach plus toad is 10, and a tag-axle coach plus toad is 12. The S08 covers both in its 10- and 12-wheel modes, all on one monitor in the cockpit.

What PSI do Class A motorhome tires run?

Diesel pushers on 22.5-inch tires often run around 100–120 PSI cold, while gas coaches on 19.5-inch tires typically run lower. Use your coach's weight-based inflation table, and choose 217 PSI sensors if you run near or above 110 PSI.

My coach came with a factory TPMS. Do I still need one?

Some newer coaches include a factory system for the coach itself. If yours does not cover the toad or a trailer, or doesn't show tire temperature at every position, an aftermarket Grundig kit adds that on its own display.

Where should the signal booster go on a 40-foot coach?

Mount it near the rear of the coach, on a constant 12V source, so it bridges the tag axle and the toad to the cockpit monitor.

Should I check pressures after storage?

Yes. Coaches that sit for weeks lose pressure. Wake the monitor before you leave and compare every reading to your cold target — the TPMS makes a full walk-around gauge check much faster.
