Grundig

Founded in 1945 in Germany by Max Grundig, Grundig advanced automotive electronics. After being acquired by Delphi Technologies in 2003, it expanded to North America and is now owned by Germany’s THS, integrating German engineering with American automotive expertise.

As a global mobility solutions provider, Grundig Auto supplies ebikes, high-quality audio systems, and vehicle components using European technology and a global production network.

I. Product Overview

The Grundig Spark Plug Tester is a precision tool designed to check the performance and aging status of spark plugs under various operating conditions, ensuring optimal engine performance and safety.

II. Product Features

  • Adjustable Frequency: Allows for checking spark adjustment under different operating conditions.
  • Improved Spark Detection Station Design: The spark hole is located away from the adjustment knob for safer use.
  • Three Indicator Lights: Detect signals, allowing for more accurate determination of whether spark failure is caused by the instrument or a spark plug problem.
  • Spark Plug Quality Check: A solid spark indicates good performance, while an intermittent spark indicates a problem.
  • Spark Plug Aging Check: A bright purple spark indicates good performance, while a dark red spark indicates severe aging.
  • Spark Plug Aging Check for Different Brands and Specifications: Under the same signal, a strong, concentrated, and loud spark indicates good performance, while a weak spark indicates poor performance.
  • Standard Power Supply: Ensures more stable spark and long-lasting performance.
  • European Standard Adapter: Equipped with a European standard adapter for compatibility.

III. Product Usage

Principle:

In an automobile's ignition system, a high-voltage ignition coil generates high voltage (10,000 volts or higher). The spark plug draws this voltage from the high-voltage ignition coil into the engine cylinder. The spark generated between the spark plug electrodes ignites the fuel-air mixture. A tester can distinguish between good and bad spark plugs by the intensity of the spark.

Precautions:

  • Turn off the power before installing the spark plug.
  • The spark plug tester is a high-voltage tester, so avoid touching the spark plugs during operation to avoid danger.
  • The higher the frequency, the stronger the spark intensity.

Instructions:

  1. Place the spark plug into hole 1 or 2 on the tester. If you want to compare a new and old spark plug, insert the new spark plug into hole 1 and the old spark plug into hole 2.
  2. Connect the power supply.
  3. Turn key switch 4 clockwise to turn on the tester. Indicator light 3 will illuminate, and the tester will now operate at 1000 rpm.
  4. Turn key switch 4 clockwise again to adjust the operating frequency between 1000 and 5000 rpm.
